This was drawn from a photograph that I took in late July 2016, while in Quincy with my husband for the International Norton Rally. While my husband was out for the events and rides that were put on by the rally, I went out with our puppy and attempted to fly fish.
It was very hot, mid nineties, not a breath of wind, so the water was glassy and clear. There was an aquatic insect hatch going on so the fish were rising, unfortunately I didn't seem to have the right fly, as I got no hits on anything that I offered. Bats were dodging and diving after the fly, and the throaty drone of bullfrogs was all around me. Despite getting skunked by the fish I had a very special experience just being there. I simply had to draw it.
