I have finally completed the fourth and final print of my Aspen Series, Summer Aspens. I imagined completing this project seamlessly, but life has a way of interfering with the best of plans, more so with my loose working schedule. Now that it is done I must say I am pleased with it, as well as the series.
Each season these trees present an ever changing beauty like so many wonders in our natural world, like the birds that visit my garden. The Western Tanager in this print is one of my favorites, and this one sits still so we can get a good look at him! This guy is in honor of the pair that we had spotted in our own aspens several times over one summer.
I use Cranfield Caligo Safewash ink, on Mohawk ultra white paper, it is archival and acid free, It has eleven layers, counting the bird as one layer, but he is a patch of three. I will send out a newsletter with photos of the layers done in order, and will explain the process.
I apologize to anyone who is wanting the whole series, Fall Aspens was the first in the series and has sold out, Winter was printed next and there are seven remaining in that edition.
